하아아아안국 belongs to me, another story by the dirty 한국 rivers.... :boogie:

Okay, last weekend I finally arrived in Korea. The trip lasted 3 days in total if we include waitings, Umag - Zagreb, Zagreb - Zurich, Zurich - Incheon, Incheon - Seoul.

Now it has been like 3 days of my staying here and yesterday I went to visit the museum about the king 세종 (Sejong). And I liked it. The exterior part is just a monument, the statue of the king with some history explained and some of his most important inventions exposed. The interior is underground and its very building is cool, but that what makes it impressive is the amazingly wise combination of lights and shadows, as well as materials with reflection features and the high quality video screens.
For example, there is a set of war ships on a blue yet reflective ground that imitates the sea. The walls that surround that complex are video screens and the reflection of the video to the ground makes it, maybe not completely realistic, but very artistic indeed. You can obviously notice it is not just merely a coincidence.
Of course, the interactive features were not lacking. There were various games, photo machine, tablets to let the guests to try write in 한글 (Hangeul, Korean alphabet) and many other cool things.

Also, my man and I went to visit the artificial river as well, it was an interesting place. You got the modern city buildings, a real world metropolis, but down there it is made to look, hmh, not really natural, but compared to the the buildings and the city structure surrounding it, it's pretty much different, enough for reminding of the realistic Julian Beaver's street graffiti (these I have seen only in the photos, though), just this here is not a graffiti, but a real structure.

As for my first impressions about Korea and its people, well, I can't say I'm feeling like at home, I'm from a small town, I don't speak the language yet and I look different, but I'm feeling pretty comfortable. The people don't stare at you because you're different, sometimes someone notices you, but that's it. I thought I'd be much shier, but I'm fine.
The hostesses at the airplane were so proffesionally kind as well as the other plane officers.
And of course, my boyfriend is great as usual and his friends are nice guys.

The first day of my arrival the air was so heavy, the city felt like a bus, it all smelled like cars. But the second day, third and today it seems like becoming easier, and... normal.

Today I got my passport back and a D-4 (일반연수) Visa printed in it, on the first page after the photography and passinger informations. :)
Now I can reserve the tickets and go and learn the language and meet my man and see all of the places I had seen in the movies. :D

Oh my.... I wished to at least visit South Korea since I was 13...... *tears of joy*

Okay, I'm back.

3 min read
In my long period of inactivity from DeviantArt, I have received messages from some users telling me to come back and that they hope everything is fine with me. (How sweet!!! Thank you! ) So, I decided it would be fair from me to explain this absence.

So, this month took place the entrance exams for the universities and so, of course, the art academy in Rijeka, which is the school I tried to apply to. For that I had to study a lot, so I was pretty tired and pressured, so I didn't make new stuff to upload on my profile. I mean, I did make drawings, of course, but they were just practice things and I didn't consider them so interesting.
Anyway, you can notice that some similar stuff I have already submitted. These are mostly artworks I had to do for my portfolio (but not all of them). For application I had to make 10 portraits (5 paintings + 5 drawings), 10 figures (5+5), 4 landscapes, 5 free topic (I chose my older stuff for that) and the portfolio design itself was judged as an artwork too (that's what the self portrait was for).
I'll add more later, gotta make photos of my stuff, I thought I did already, but I forgot where I saved them... ^_^"

So, how did the exams go.
well, we had to draw a portrait there and figure, we had to make a clay head and painting still life. And then there was also the interview and the exam of art's history.
I have this characteristic that I'm never completely satisfied about my works (especially when I see someone's better than I, and believe me, what I saw was too good), so all I did was so-so to me. Portrait drawing was definitely a disappointment because I missed the model's expression completely and I can definitely do better. But I was kinda satisfied with clay head, I did it better than expected, and it was my 3rd head in all my life.
Theory was very weak. :(
...
The results.
So, the system is like this: you gain points for your works, for theory, for motivation and for your final results in your previeous high school, then they do maths on each one's points and make a top list, from the one with the most points to the lowest. And then those that didn't satisfy. Why they do so, because the number of students they accept is limited. It was 14 that got the scholarship + 10 that have to pay the scholarship on their own and 5 foreign students. So, to make it simple it's was 14+10 = 24.... And I was 26th on the list! *sigh* So typical of my luck.... u_u
Of course, no one gave up and everyone in the top 24 entered university.

However, this academy has 2 programs, one is for just artists in general and the other is for art teachers (at school, teaching kids). On this other, teacher's program, there remained 2 free slots, so who's interested can try in autumn and of course, I'm planning to try it out. So there's still some hope left. o_ó
